When Emerson acquired Cascade Technologies, a Stirling University spin-out, the business had around 30 permanent employees. Emerson decided to relocate operations to a new, purpose-built site in Cumbernauld, with ambitious plans to grow both headcount and capability. I was brought in to build out the full team for the new site and support a critical growth phase.
I designed and delivered a Recruitment-as-a-Service model built specifically for Emerson Gas Analysis. Instead of operating as a typical external agency, I worked as an embedded recruiter, effectively on secondment to the business. That meant working directly with the HR Manager as part of the internal team, being available on site and remotely as needed, and owning the end-to-end recruitment process for every vacancy.
I personally managed all hiring for the site: operators, assembly, warehouse and logistics; operations and administration; professional and specialist positions; and leadership roles up to Heads of Department and the Site Director.
No per-head fees. Emerson paid a fixed monthly rate for my time and services. That gave them cost certainty and let me focus entirely on quality, fit and retention rather than volume.
No visa sponsorship was available for any role. Every hire, including specialist and senior positions, had to come from the local and commuting area.
Emerson is a global name, but the gas analysis division was not widely known locally. I actively told the Emerson story, positioning the site as a serious long-term career move.
The site needed high-volume operational roles and key leadership hires at the same time. I ran one consistent, high-quality process across every level, from the shop floor to the Site Director.
